Resource for dealing with Stalkers (+ assault and abuse)

Updated: Feb 13

In the latest episode of Getting Better, my mother shared her stalker story. An experience she suffered for over 5 years. Sadly, many others also are victims to stalkers, with 'an estimated 13.5 million people being stalked in a

one-year period in the United States' (SPARC)

If you have not listened to the podcast episode, heed the WARNING: content mentions rape and sexual assault

Your safety is the most crucial priority.

Below you can find the Birdie defense alarm...the LOUDEST and most compact alarm that comes in multiple colors.

  • travels well (unlike pepper spray or a taser)

  • comes with key chain and carabiner

  • reusable

  • flashing light

Final tips:

  • Write down every detail, date, time, location from EVERY interaction

  • Call the police (or citizen police number) every interaction to add to the case record

  • Don't walk with headphones at night or in unsafe areas

  • Take action for your own safety.

    • for me this helped with my anxiety and fear, as sharing my location with my friends made me feel more protected, taking self defense classes increased my confidence in my ability to protect myself, and talking about it with trusted confidants and professionals gave me more peace and emotional support about the situation.

Listen to your gut, your heart, your intuition, and listen to the people who love you.

Here's to staying safe, or getting to safety...

and as always, here's to getting better.

Years of studying psychology and medicine have taught me how to find scientifically-backed research.

My background in neuropsychology and public health have shown me how important it is to spread awareness for others' hope and health's sake.

And my personal challenges (woof) have brought me to my knees, to wacky health trends, and to the best community I've ever had.

Here are some of my thoughts and helpful resources.
